Responsibilities

• Builds relationships with players to provide mentorship, guidance, and support.
• Coaches and instructs student athletes during practices and on game day in fundamentals, health, and safety.
• Support physical conditioning needs of student-athletes with head coach and S&C staff.
• Conducts player evaluations and develops plans to enhance the student-athlete experience.
• Seeks out, applies, and shares knowledge of sport trends and innovations in playing and teaching.
• Assists with practice planning, workouts, scouting, film breakdown, and game management.
• Collaborates with the head coach to devise game plans and strategies for upcoming opponents.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Highlights

This 10-month position reports to the Head Baseball Coach and plays a key role in the continued success and development of RIT's NCAA Division III baseball program. The Assistant Baseball Coach supports all aspects of the program, including recruiting academically qualified and talented student-athletes, planning and conducting practices, game preparation and coaching, player development, and mentoring student-athletes both on and off the field. The Assistant Coach helps foster a culture of academic achievement, athletic excellence, leadership, and personal growth while ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and university policies. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the student-athlete experience while contributing to a competitive and highly respected baseball program. This position is a one-year appointment, with the potential for renewal on an annual basis, contingent upon organizational need, funding, and satisfactory performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Builds relationships with players to provide mentorship, guidance, and support both on and off the field/court
• Coaches and instructs student athletes during practices and on game day in how to perform their sport such as proper skills and instruction of fundamentals, physical health, team concepts, and safety
• Support the overall physical conditioning needs of student-athletes in conjunction with the head coach and strength & conditioning staff
• Conducts player evaluations and develop plans to enhance the student-athlete experience
• Seeks out, applies, and shares knowledge of sport trends and innovations in playing and teaching
• Assists with practice planning, workouts, scouting, film breakdown, and game management
• Collaborates with the head coach to devise game plans and strategies for upcoming opponents
