Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast in Santa Maria, CA is seeking an Assistant Club Director for the Fairlawn Clubhouse. This part-time leadership role requires guiding daily operations, coaching staff, and fostering a safe, engaging environment for youth.

You’ll work closely with the Club Director, supervise Youth Development Professionals, and help plan activities, while demonstrating strong communication with youth, families, and partners.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum two years of experience working directly with school-aged youth.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate youth and coworkers.
• Willingness to lead while participating in daily program activities.
• Strong communication with youth, parents, coworkers, volunteers, and partners.
• Remain calm, flexible, and professional in a busy environment.
• Dependable with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Experience planning or leading programs and activities.
• Comfortable supporting youth through behavioral challenges.
• Basic computer skills: email, Microsoft Office, internet research, social media navigation.

Responsibilities

• Support the Club Director with overall operations and programming.
• Coach, train, and provide direction to Youth Development Professionals.
• Create a welcoming, safe environment for youth participation.
• Provide positive behavior guidance and model appropriate conduct.
• Help staff plan and lead activities, programs, and events.
• Monitor program areas for supervision and youth safety.
• Build relationships with youth, families, staff, volunteers, schools, and partners.
• Maintain accurate attendance, program, and member records.
• Support staff accountability and address challenges as they arise.
• Pitch in to keep the Clubhouse organized, clean, and ready for kids.
