Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Fort Worth seeks an Assistant Civil/Transmission Engineer to assist project teams in creating designs for new, altered, and redeveloped transmission line projects (69–500 kV). The role supports design through construction, adapting plans to budgets and client needs.

You will work with project teams to produce drawings, review CAD outputs, assist with data collection, and help prepare presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Eng; ABET preferred.
• Internship/consulting experience preferred.
• Basic civil/structural engineering principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Analytical thinking in problem solving.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• Familiar with AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM, Civil 3D, PLS/PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCAD.
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork.
• Demonstrated leadership potential.
• EIT certification preferred.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred.
• Campus/community involvement preferred.
• Authorized to work permanently in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Assist design teams from concept to design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for high voltage transmission lines (69–500 kV).
• Assist in designing transmission components per project needs.
• Apply basic civil/structural engineering concepts.
• Compile project data and studies.
• Update drawings with senior engineers’ corrections in CAD tools.
• Assist with client presentations and shop drawings review.
• Perform field inspections and simple calculations.
• Support contract administration for transmission line design.
• Adhere to policies and standards.
