Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeks an Environmental Engineer for Stormwater Permitting, Deputy Director, under BEPA. The selected candidate will perform civil engineering work in field and office, with training at high difficulty level in design review, development, and construction inspection.

Under general supervision, you will oversee stormwater pollution prevention plans, supervise staff, review as-built plans, conduct field surveys, and ensure compliance with NYC MS4

Qualifications

• New York State Professional Engineer license required.
• Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Eligible for Assignment Levels II or III with leadership on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering calculations.
• Supervises interns and junior engineers under supervision.
• Oversees review of stormwater pollution prevention plans and field inspection staff.
• Reviews as-built plans for compliance with rules.
• Participates in field surveys to verify stormwater practices.
• Inspects sites and tests soils to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Reviews construction-related maps and permits for NYC Stormwater permits.
• Prepares reports and maintains records.
