Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to join our Environmental Services Global Practice in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The role supports a wide range of civil and environmental designs, including site civil design, hydraulic analyses, and water treatment facilities.

You will assist in preparing design documentation, coordinating multidisciplinary projects, and contributing to QA/QC procedures while developing professional skills in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; ABET preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in problem-solving environments.
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering teams to deliver high-quality civil/environmental designs.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project aspects with varying complexity.
• Prepare design documentation, criteria, letters, reports, drawings, and cost estimates.
• Update drawings using CAD software and assist with shop drawing reviews.
• Support client presentations and contract administration for design projects.
• Engage in QA/QC procedures and internal training.
