Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to join our Environmental Services Global Practice in the Mid-Atlantic Region. You will support civil and environmental design, site development, and infrastructure projects across a variety of sectors.

The role offers exposure to CAD tools, hydraulic analyses, regulatory compliance, and construction documentation while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Travel up to 10% and opportunities for growth in a leading engineering firm.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited civil engineering degree preferred.
  • internship or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically on quantitative problems.
  • Proficient in CAD and civil analysis software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teams to deliver high-quality civil/environmental designs.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary projects with varying complexity.
  • Prepare design criteria, memos, reports, drawings and cost estimates.
  • Assist with compiling studies and project data for managers.
  • Update drawings and verify CAD corrections across software.
  • Support client presentations and contract administration.
  • Engage in QA/QC procedures and internal training.
