The City of Delano is seeking an experienced, dynamic municipal professional to serve as its Assistant City Manager. The Assistant City Manager acts as a key administrative partner to the City Manager, directing high level projects, overseeing assigned municipal departments, and helping shape organizational policies and strategic programs.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in administration, exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated history of effective interdepartmental leadership.
Under direction, assists the City Manager in a wide variety of complex administrative activities and specialprojects.Directstheactivitiesandexercisesdelegatedsupervisionofspecificdepartmentheadson a project basis. Oversees the management of assigned departments/divisions. Participates in the development of management policies, strategies and programs for the City. Provides highly responsible technical staff assistance to the City Manager and department directors.

- Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, business administration, city and regional planning, or a related field.
- Five(5)toSeven(7)yearsofextensiveandresponsibleexperienceinmunicipalmanagementand administrative work at the department head level.
- Master’s Degree in one of the above fields, highly desirable, and may be substituted for one year of administrative experience.
- Three(3)toFive(5)yearssupervisoryexperiencerequired.
- MaintainavalidCaliforniaDriverLicensewithadrivingrecordacceptabletotheCity.
