The Lincoln Water System invites applications for a highly responsible management position overseeing the planning and operations of Lincoln's water system, serving about 300,000 customers. The ideal candidate will have a degree in civil engineering, significant supervisory experience, and a Professional Engineer registration to ensure regulatory compliance and manage infrastructure improvements.

This is a highly responsible management level position engaged in the overall planning, operation, and maintenance of Lincoln's water system. The Lincoln Water System serves approximately 300,000 customers and includes facilities and operations from source through distribution. Specific responsibilities involve: planning and implementing an operating and capital improvements budget with an emphasis on infrastructure renewal; ongoing planning and development of Lincoln's next water supply source; facilitating the completion of Lincoln's lead service line replacement program; managing and supervising a skilled operations team in a demanding 24/7/365 environment; maintaining compliance with State and Federal safe drinking water regulations including cross connection control; developing and implementing state of the art practice methods and technology; seeking federal and state funding opportunities; and performing related public engagement and presentations.
Minimum Requirements
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering plus four years of experience in the practice of civil engineering in a responsible supervisory capacity; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
Necessary Special Requirement
Registration as a Professional Engineer. If registered in another state, must obtain State of Nebraska registration within six months of appointment.
