Job summary

City of Herriman is seeking an Assistant City Engineer to lead public utility projects and city infrastructure efforts. You will plan, design, review, and deliver capital improvements, with supervision of staff or consultants as assigned.

You will manage stormwater programs, engage with federal and state agencies, and ensure compliance with city codes while supporting the City Engineer in leadership and project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.
• Five years of progressively responsible Civil Engineering experience with at least three years of administrative experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License in Utah or ability to obtain by reciprocity within six months.

Responsibilities

• Assist the City Engineer in planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating engineering and public utility functions for the City.
• Manage capital improvement projects from concept through design, bidding, construction, and closeout.
• Ensure compliance with City codes and standards; oversee traffic, drainage, ROW, and development engineering requirements.
• Manage the stormwater program (MS4) and related permits; oversee stormwater inspection activities and budgets.
• Oversee FEMA floodplain management and administration of floodplain permits.
• Coordinate with FEMA, Salt Lake County, State agencies, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
