Job description

The Cache County Fire Department is accepting applications for an Assistant Chief of EMS/Training. This position provides leadership and oversight for the District's emergency medical services and training programs.

This is a full-time, salaried, benefited position. All benefits start on the first day! Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, 401k, Utah Retirement System, 14 paid holidays, and 18 days of Personal Leave in the first year.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Chief of EMS/Training supervises personnel, coordinates certification and continuing education, supports regulatory compliance and quality improvement, and may respond to emergency incidents as a command officer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED AND Ten (10) years of progressively responsible full-time emergency medical services experience, including a minimum of five (5) years in a supervisory capacity.

An associate's or bachelor's degree in fire administration, emergency medical services, public administration, emergency management, organizational leadership, or a closely related field is preferred.

Licensing/Certifications:

The following licenses and certifications are required at the time of appointment unless otherwise specified:

  • Utah Paramedic certification and/or National Registry Paramedic certification as required by the Fire District
  • Firefighter II
  • Hazardous Materials Operations
  • Fire Instructor I
  • Fire Officer I
  • ICS 100, 200, 300, and 400; IS 700 and 800;
  • EMS Instructor certification appropriate to the provider level and instructional responsibilities of the position
  • Current CPR certification appropriate to EMS licensure
  • A valid driver's license
  • Employee must obtain and maintain NWCG Wildland Firefighter II qualification and a current NWCG Red Card within one (1) year of appointment if not already held.
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Fire Instructor II
  • Fire Officer II or III
  • Advanced EMS instructor or educator credentials, where applicable
  • Chief Officer-level professional development; and National Fire Academy coursework related to leadership, EMS administration, training, incident command, or organizational management.
