Job summary

State of Utah in Millard County seeks an Assistant Fire Warden to manage delegated wildland fires, prevention, and hazardous fuels within the Cooperative Wildfire System. You will work with municipal volunteer fire departments, fire districts and communities across the county, coordinating suppression with local and federal agencies.

The role requires NWCG ICT5 with 5+ years, ENGB, FAL3 and a valid driver’s license; preferred ICT4, ENGB, FAL2, and strong communication and instructional skills.

Qualifications

  • NWCG ICT5 with 5+ years’ experience as a wildland fire professional.
  • NWCG ENGB (t).
  • FAL3 qualification.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Support initial attack and extended attack on wildland fires with partner agencies.
  • Communicate and coordinate at a high level with stakeholders and interagency fire cooperators from local, state, and federal agencies in support of CWS and interagency cooperative objectives.
  • Evaluate, coordinate and implement hazardous fuels treatments on non-federal lands within Juab County.
  • Coordinate and implement wildland fire prevention efforts with partner agencies.
  • Provide leadership and training to volunteer Fire Departments.

Job Description

We are in search of a highlymotivated, highly skilled,and physically fit wildland fire professional! Millard County is a beautiful location with a fast-growing population with nice communities, schools, and numerous recreational opportunities. With a large amount of public and visitor activity, substantial wildfirerisk is probable. This position is a wildlandfire official for non-federal lands within the county. The Assistant County Fire Wardenworks closely with municipal volunteerfire departments, fire districts and HOA/communities throughout the county withinthe framework of Utah's Cooperative Wildfire System (CWS),as well as coordinating fire suppression activities with federalagencies. The Assistant Fire Warden is responsible for managing delegated wildland fires, wildlandfire prevention and hazardous fuels mitigation withinthe framework of the Cooperative Wildfire System.

Key Responsibilities

  • NWCG ICT4, with five or more years’ experience as a wildlandfire professional.
  • NWCG ENGB qualified.
  • FAL2 qualified.
  • Excellent communication skills orally and in writing,with team buildingskills.
  • Documented skills as a Fire Service instructor and/or public education experience.
  • Experience in hazardous fuels mitigation.
