In this role, you will serve as a senior technical authority within the bridge group, overseeing complex structural assignments and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards. You will work alongside transportation, roadway, environmental, geotechnical, and construction professionals to develop practical, cost-effective, and innovative solutions for public-sector clients throughout New Jersey and the surrounding region. The individual selected for this position will help lead high-profile bridge improvement projects, guide technical innovation, and ensure engineering excellence across a diverse range of transportation assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior technical leader for bridge and structural engineering projects.
- Direct the planning, design, rehabilitation, and replacement of bridge structures.
- Provide expert guidance on structural analysis, load ratings, design criteria, and constructability considerations.
- Review engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and reports to ensure compliance with company and agency standards.
- Lead quality management efforts and oversee technical review processes.
- Support multidisciplinary project delivery teams throughout all phases of design and construction.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop technical approaches, schedules, and resource plans.
- Participate in client meetings and act as a trusted advisor to transportation agencies and municipalities.
- Assist with proposal development, technical presentations, and project pursuits.
- Build and maintain relationships with public-sector stakeholders and industry partners.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and career development.
- Contribute to departmental initiatives focused on innovation, efficiency, and technical best practices.
- Support long-term strategic goals for the transportation and structures division.
- Conduct field investigations, inspections, and site evaluations when necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
- Master's Degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Ability to obtain additional state licensure through reciprocity as needed.
- 15+ years of bridge and structural engineering experience.
- Proven background delivering complex transportation infrastructure projects.
- Experience with bridge rehabilitation and historic structure projects is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and transportation agency design requirements.
- Expertise in structural analysis, bridge inspection, evaluation, and rehabilitation methodologies.
- Experience using industry-standard bridge analysis and design software.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, or comparable design platforms.
- Demonstrated success leading technical teams and mentoring engineering staff.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Established relationships within transportation agencies and public-sector organizations are a plus.
- Previous participation in business development, proposal preparation, and client-facing activities is highly desirable.
