Job summary

HHM Hotels in Boston seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer to support the Chief Engineer in maintaining guest comfort and building systems. You will assist with interviewing, training, scheduling and coaching maintenance staff to ensure brand standards are met.

Duties include room inspections, basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC work, preventative maintenance, and keeping accurate PM records. You will also help monitor life safety systems, safety practices, and sustainability programs to enhance guest

Qualifications

• The role requires prior engineer/maintenance experience.
• Experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC and life safety systems is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist Chief Engineer in interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, coaching and supporting associates, ensuring they perform in accordance with established brand or hotel standards and consistent with HHM core values.
• Conduct room inspections and identify repair needs.
• Install or repair sheet rock and other wall coverings.
• Paint designated areas and items.
• Install and replace basic electrical fixtures; replace light switches, receptacles, bulbs and fixtures.
• Install, replace and program televisions.
• Perform minor plumbing functions.
• Replace and repair heating and cooling pumps and perform preventive maintenance on units.
• Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on a scheduled basis and complete work orders; maintain PM records.
• Maintain building exterior and curb appeal of hotel grounds.
• Test and maintain life safety systems to ensure 100% operation.
• Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records and coordinate service contracts.
• Ensure work complies with local, state and Federal codes.
• Support guest satisfaction goals and sustain HHM EarthView program.
• Follow safety procedures and wear protective equipment.
