Job summary

JLL in Dallas seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer to lead the building engineering team and oversee safe, efficient operation of all building systems. You will supervise contractors, guide preventive maintenance, train staff, maintain CMMS, and prepare monthly reports.

This on-site role requires hands-on work across HVAC, electrical, plumbing and related trades. Schedule is 7am-4pm, Monday through Friday with on-call duties and close collaboration with property management to ensure occupant

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of related work experience in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry.
• Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable.
• Leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall.

What this job involves:

Serve as an engineering leader at JLL! The Assistant Chief Engineer oversees the efficient, safe and responsible operation of all building systems and equipment while also leading the engineering team.

Schedule: 7am-4pm (flexible) Monday through Friday, on-call expectation.

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Under the Chief Engineer’s direction, supervise and direct contractors and monitor performance
• Assist the Chief Engineer in the formulation and implementation of the preventive maintenance program
• Assist the Chief Engineer in training and supervision aimed at expanding the capabilities of the engineering team
• Maintain work order system (CMMS) daily and complete any tenant service requests
• Support preparation of monthly/quarterly operations and mechanical reports
• Respond effectively to all emergencies
• Communicate effectively to the client and building occupants/tenants
• Complete assigned tasks that include but are not limited to: painting, pressure washing, cleaning, maintaining lighting system bulbs/ballasts (as allowed by licensing requirements), plumbing, HVAC systems, water treatment, hanging pictures, repair office furniture, locksmith work and general maintenance
• Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts
• Comply with all safety procedures
• Comply with all policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials
• Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs
• Other projects and tasks to be assigned

Required qualifications:

• 3-5 years of related work experience, especially in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry
• Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable
• Universal CFC EPA certification or interest in achieving within first year (with JLL assistance)
• Leadership and/or supervisory experience
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall
• Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneeling, lift and/or drive
• Strong customer service and communication skills
