Job summary

Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic Assistant Instructors to support our after-school enrichment program in Concord, MA. You will help set up and run engaging, kid-friendly chess classes for 15-22 elementary students, with travel to local schools and flexible hours.

You will support the lead instructor with group activities, one-on-one guidance, and safe, sportsmanlike conduct, while building teaching skills and classroom management. Prior tutoring or camp experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Interest in working with elementary students.
• Ability to follow instructions and support classroom management.
• Punctual, reliable, and safety-conscious.
• Strong knowledge of chess fundamentals and ability to explain moves to kids.

Responsibilities

• Assist the instructor in setting up and managing a 15-22 student chess class.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to practice piece movements.
• Help guide activities, keep students engaged, and reinforce good behavior.
• Follow curriculum and promote sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively, positive classroom and encourage problem-solving.
• Travel to multiple local school sites for sessions.
• Arrive prepared and ready to engage students.
