Chess Wizards, Inc. in Worcester, MA is seeking enthusiastic Assistant Instructors to support our after-school chess program for elementary students.

This role offers hands-on teaching experience, flexible afternoon hours, and the chance to mentor future chess players. You will assist the lead instructor, help students with piece movement, and maintain a positive, structured class environment at local schools.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in working with groups of elementary students.
• Ability to follow direction and support classroom management.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals and ability to explain moves.
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive between locations.
• Availability on weekday afternoons between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to teach 1–5 classes per week.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chess Instructor in setting up and managing a class for 15-22 elementary students.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students practicing piece movements and basic concepts.
• Support activities, keep students engaged, and reinforce good behavior.
• Follow the curriculum and promote sportsmanship.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive prepared and ready to engage students.
