The Boys Farmers Market is seeking an Assistant Chef to support the Lead Chef in the Prepared Foods Department in Delray Beach, FL. This role blends hands-on culinary work with leadership support in kitchen management.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of professional culinary experience, strong food safety knowledge, and the ability to work in a fast-paced grocery environment. Benefits are provided for full-time staff, with pay dependent on experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional culinary experience, preferably in a retail grocery environment.
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance standards (e.g., ServSafe certification or equivalent).
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist kitchen operations within the Prepared Foods Department, ensuring smooth workflow and timely production.
• Partner with lead chef on executing seasonal menus that highlight fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
• Help enforce strict food safety compliance, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices in accordance with local and state health codes.
• Work with leadership to manage inventory and portion control to minimize waste and control food costs.
• Monitor kitchen equipment maintenance and cleanliness to ensure a safe working environment.
• Maintain food safety compliance.
