The Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission is seeking an Assistant Ceramics Studio Technician for the Montpelier Arts Center in Laurel, MD. This role supports the ceramics studio and related programming, ensuring smooth operation of kilns, supplies, and studio space.

Responsibilities include kiln loading and firing, troubleshooting with kilns and equipment, gallery setup for events, and assisting with exhibitions and class activities.

Qualifications

  • College degree or technical certification and experience required.
  • Knowledge of mixing and maintaining glazes a plus.
  • Knowledge of common hazards, and necessary safety precautions involved within a ceramic studio.
  • Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks including lifting, bending, working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of visual arts/exhibitions/gallery maintenance preferred.

Assistant Ceramics Studio Technician

The Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, Arts and Cultural Heritage Division is seeking a role for the Montpelier Arts Center in Laurel, MD.

  • Assist the ceramics studio and programming with loading and firing kilns, ordering supplies, maintaining classroom and studio.
  • Troubleshoot problems with kilns and equipment such as slab rollers, pug mill etc.
  • Assist with gallery installations and maintenance, set up for special events, classes and other programs as needed at the facility and within the Arts and Cultural Heritage Division.
