Job summary

Propel Schools is seeking an Assistant Boys Varsity Basketball Coach for the 26-27 season, starting this winter, to support multiple Propel campuses: Andrew Street/Braddock Hills and Montour High Schools.

The successful candidate will have varsity/JV coaching experience, the ability to build a program, strong organization and communication skills, and a commitment to Propel Habits. The role includes a seasonal stipend of $3,000 and compliance with district requirements.

Qualifications

• Prior Varsity or Junior Varsity coaching experience.
• Head coach or assistant coach experience preferred; program-building ability.
• Support Varsity program with head coach, athletic director and staff.
• Experience implementing off-season programs per WPIAL/PIAA regulations.
• Willingness to attend PIAA meetings and certification trainings.
• High level of organization and planning.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to Propel Habits.

Responsibilities

• Support the Varsity program with the head coach, athletic director and other coaching staff.
• Implement off-season programs in accordance with WPIAL/PIAA regulations.
• Attend all required PIAA preseason meetings and trainings in compliance with regulations.
• Demonstrate high organization, planning and communication in daily operations.

Successful Candidates Will Have

• Prior Varsity or Junior Varsity coaching experience


• Preferred candidates will have experience as a head coach or assistant coach, playing experience, as well as the demonstrated ability to build a successful program starting at the varsity level


• Responsibility for supporting the Varsity program with the head coach, athletic director and other coaching staff


• Experience implementing off-season programs in accordance with WPIAL/PIAA regulations.


• Willingness and ability to attend all required PIAA preseason coaching meetings and mandatory coaching certification/trainings in compliance with PIAA regulations.


• High level of personal organization and planning


• Strong communication and relationship building skills


• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development

Season Information

• The 2026-2027 Boys Varsity Basketball Season is scheduled to begin in November and is anticipated to conclude in February, although the season may end earlier/later depending on if the team participates in postseason.


• This position includes a seasonal stipend of $3,000. Please note that the stipend will be prorated for coaches who begin after the official start of the season.
