Job summary

Andover Public Schools is seeking a school athletic coach responsible for leading and coordinating athletic activities in alignment with district policies. This role emphasizes safety, student development, and adherence to KSHSAA guidelines.

The coach will organize tryouts, plan practices, coordinate with administrators, and manage equipment and budgets while promoting sportsmanship and character education. This is a seasonally scheduled, in-district coaching position located on-site.

Qualifications

• Licensed teacher or eligible for Rule 10 approval through KSHSAA.
• First aid, CPR, and AED certification required.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Oversees tryouts and selects participants in accordance with established guidelines.
• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for achievement in the sport.
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice.
• Works with the Activity Director and/or Assistant Principal in scheduling contests, practices, meets, and competitions.
• Recommends equipment, supplies, and uniforms for purchase.
• Prepares and adheres to approved budget.
• Maintains attendance forms, insurance records, and other required paperwork.
• Oversees safety conditions of the facility where the sport is conducted and when students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition.
• Attends required meetings of the KSHSAA.
