SUMMARY: The Assistant Banquet Manager job description involves overseeing the planning, organization, coordination, and supervision of all banquet events. This role is essential in ensuring that guests receive the highest level of service and satisfaction during their visit. An Assistant Banquet Manager sets up and prepares rooms for events.

This role requires exceptional communication skills and an ability to lead a team of servers and housemen, ensuring that everyone understands their roles and responsibilities. An Assistant Banquet Manager also monitors and manages budgets, handles customer complaints and requests, and ensures that all legal regulations are followed.

The Assistant Banquet Manager shall strive to always provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests. Work directly with the client / group contact as an extension to the Banquet Operations and the Conference Service team(s). S/he will be responsible for exemplifying the La Cantera Resort and Spa Culture as well as promoting the resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Check Daily, BEOs and Daily Event list and verify changes
  2. Verifies meeting and event rooms/space are set according to event documentation and customer requirements.
  3. Leads shifts and actively participates in the servicing of events.
  4. Adheres to and reinforces all standards, policies, and procedures (SOPs)
  5. Assists in maintaining the inventory of function room amenities and other controllable supplies.
  6. Attends and participates in all pertinent meetings
  7. Conducts room function inspections prior to each event to ensure the room is set according to specifications.
  8. Maintains attendance log for Banquet houseman
  9. Manages departmental inventories and assets including par levels and maintenance of equipment.
  10. Schedules Banquet staff to forecast and service standards, while maximizing profits.
  11. Works with Event Planning team to verify flawless delivery of events.
Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
  2. Must have valid driver’s license and meet company driving standards
  3. Must be able to read, write and speak English
  4. Must be able to work well under pressure
  5. Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written
  6. Must be highly detailed orientated
  7. Proficiency in various applications including:
    1. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook)
    2. Adobe Acrobat
    3. Power Point
  8. Ability to learn in-house applications and utilize them daily.
  9. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  10. Must have excellent listening skills
  11. Must possess excellent communication skills
  12. Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
  13. Must always ensure a teamwork environment
  14. Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays
  15. Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and associates
  16. Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests
