Job summary

Paradise Valley Unified School District invites applications for an Assistant Band Director at Shadow Mountain High School. This temporary, 1.0 FTE position supports band programs, designs program activities, and oversees student athletes under the Athletic Director's supervision.

Responsibilities include coaching, managing uniforms and equipment, tracking eligibility, and teaching performance in music and sports skills.

Qualifications

• SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
• Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; administering first aid; applying pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; organizing and communicating information and concepts.

Responsibilities

• Assesses student athletes for performance feedback and team placement.
• Attends meetings and conferences to relay program information.
• Communicates with parents, students, officials, admins and community.
• Instructs student athletes to promote growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Maintains records (stats, forms, schedules, inventories, etc.) to meet requirements.
• Manages uniforms, equipment and facilities safely.
• Monitors academic eligibility to ensure compliance and support.
• Supervises activities to minimize risk of injury.
• Teaches sports techniques, rules, and tactics for competition prep.
