Job summary

Paradise Valley Unified School District is seeking an Assistant Baseball Coach for Shadow Mountain High School. This temporary, .5 FTE position supports the varsity program, with two half-time roles across the season from February through May.

The role emphasizes coaching, supervision, and compliance with district rules, plus mentoring student athletes and maintaining program records and equipment. Peak duties occur evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Coaching experience preferred with ability to instruct and mentor student athletes.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with a commitment to sportsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Assess student athletes for performance and team placement.
• Attend meetings, workshops, conferences, etc., to stay informed on program requirements.
• Communicate with parents, students, officials, and administrators for information and guidance.
• Instruct student athletes to promote growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Maintain records such as statistics, schedules, and equipment inventories for compliance.
• Manage uniforms, equipment, and facilities to ensure safety and order.
• Monitor student athletes' academic eligibility and intervene when needed.
• Supervise activities to ensure safe participation and minimize injury risk.
• Teach sports techniques, rules, strategies, and tactics for competition.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
