Job summary

Shadow Ridge High School in Surprise, AZ is seeking a Supplemental Percussion Instructor to support the High School Band Director. The role coordinates percussion and front ensemble units, directs winter programs, and prepares independent and marching band performances.

Responsibilities include leading rehearsals, teaching rudiments, organizing sections, developing visual design, and managing audio systems.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; higher degree preferred.
Experience in marching arts including DCI, WGI and/or high school/college groups.
Experience with current marching arts technology (sound design, MIDI, microphones, live audio).
Experience as a battery or front ensemble tech.
Experience with drill writing software preferred.
Experience with K-12 students.
Valid fingerprint clearance card (FPCC) required.

Responsibilities

Attend rehearsals, band camps, and performances; assist sectional and whole group rehearsals.
Instruct basic to advanced percussion rudiments and fundamentals.
Organize and lead rehearsals and sectionals.
Develop and implement the visual design of the program.
Instruct percussion techniques for battery, mallet and electronic instruments.
Show design collaboration with drill writers and unit staff.
Manage audio engineering and sound design.
Repair and maintain equipment.
Coordinate with Athletic Director, Band Director, Band staff, and Booster Organization.
Recommend new equipment purchases within budget allocations.
Consult booster, Director and parents in percussion studies.
Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Band Director.
