Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer-focused behavior with associates. Greets customers, answers questions, and resolves issues promptly and professionally. Focuses on continuous improvement.
- Handles customer orders over the phone or in person, determining preferences and creating decorated products timely.
- Decorates cakes and bakery products using dyes, designs, and custom decorations, adhering to company recipes.
- Assists Bakery Manager with daily operations, merchandising, and customer service, and performs managerial duties in their absence.
- Oversees inventory, tracks sales, and manages product orders and supplies.
- Assists with scheduling, training, performance recognition, and delegating work to optimize talent and profits.
- Develops merchandising plans to meet financial goals, ensuring correct pricing and production according to weekly ads and specials.
- Verifies deliveries and invoices for accuracy, manages product rotation, and monitors quality and freshness.
- Controls expenses, manages labor costs, reduces losses, and ensures adherence to recipes and freshness standards.
- Maintains well-stocked, appealing bakery displays, greets customers, and assists with product questions and concerns.
- Ensures merchandise is fresh, properly priced, and signage is correct. Manages spoiled or damaged products appropriately.
- May assist in baking breads, pastries, and other goods, following production logs and recipes.
- Supports smooth workflow and continuous performance improvement within the department.
- Utilizes all PPE provided and adheres to safety standards.
- May assist in other departments as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises associates in partnership with or in the absence of the department manager.
Qualification Requirements
High School diploma or GED required; relevant degrees and management experience preferred. Minimum 2 years’ management experience in retail/restaurant/supermarket environment; decorating experience preferred.
