Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:
- Promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer-focused behavior with associates. Greets customers, answers questions, and helps resolve issues promptly in a polite and professional manner. Focuses on continuous improvement and implements changes to ensure progress.
- Takes customer orders over the phone or in person, with a pleasant attitude. Determines customer preferences and creates decorated products in a timely fashion.
- Decorates cakes and bakery products using dyes, designs, or custom creations. Uses various creams, frostings, and fillings, adhering to company recipes.
- Assists Bakery Manager with daily operations, merchandising, and customer service. Performs Bakery Manager duties in their absence.
- Oversees inventory by tracking sales, ordering products, and managing supplies for successful inventory management.
- Assists with scheduling, training, performance recognition, and delegating work to optimize team talents and profits. Utilizes the Learning Management System for training new associates.
- Develops merchandising plans to meet financial goals, manages weekly ads and specials, and ensures correct pricing and production. Maintains production logs and enforces policies.
- Verifies deliveries and invoices for accuracy, helps unload merchandise, and ensures proper product rotation and quality.
- Controls expenses by improving operations, managing labor costs, and reducing losses. Ensures adherence to recipes and proper handling of out-of-code products.
- Keeps the bakery stocked and appealing, greets customers, and assists with product questions and concerns.
- Ensures merchandise is fresh, properly priced, and signage is correct. Handles spoiled or damaged products according to procedures.
- May assist in producing baked goods, adhering to production logs and recipes.
- Maintains smooth workflow and strives for continuous job performance improvement.
- Utilizes all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- May assist in other departments as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises associates within the department, either in partnership with or in the absence of the department manager.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years' management experience in retail, restaurant, or supermarket environments. Previous decorating experience is preferred.
