The role handles hearings, pleadings, and appeals, drafts opinions, conducts research, and may travel. Minimum qualifications include law degree and Georgia Bar; preferred experience in litigation and strong writing skills.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited law school and admission to the Georgia Bar.
Two or more years of relevant experience preferred.
Strong written and oral advocacy skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Participates in administrative hearings and appears in state and federal courts to argue motions and appeals.
Researches and prepares pleadings, motions and briefs.
Defends agency decisions on appeal and participates in mediations and settlements.
Drafts opinions and provides legal advice to client agencies in memoranda.
Keeps abreast of developments in health planning, utilities regulation and insurance matters.
Assists in multistate working groups and comment letter preparation.
Responds to inquiries from legislators, citizens, and judges.
