Job summary

Duke Athletics is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer for a 12-month position to manage care for student-athletes, with primary focus on rowing. You will report to the Executive Director of Athletic Medicine at Duke University.

The role requires a Master's in Athletic Training, BOC certification, NC licensure eligibility, and at least three years' NCAA athlete-care experience. Anticipated pay range posted by Duke University is provided.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-accredited program.
• BOC certification and certification maintained in good standing.
• Eligible for North Carolina athletic trainer licensure or currently licensed in North Carolina prior to employment.
• Minimum of three years of experience providing athletic training services to NCAA student-athletes.
• Athletic training experience with Rowing preferred.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
• Understanding of rehabilitation, return-to-play decisions, and sports science technologies.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses.
• Coordinate medical care for assigned student-athletes with team physicians and the sports medicine team.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, coaches, student-athletes, parents/guardians, and other care-team members.
• Educate and counsel student-athletes on injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and overall health.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation per standards.
• Participate in event and practice coverage as assigned.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Athletic Medicine.
