Job summary

Duke Athletics seeks an Assistant Athletics Trainer to support NCAA Division I student-athletes, with main focus on Rowing, under supervision of the Executive Director of Duke Athletic Medicine.

This 12-month position covers prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, coordinating care with physicians and the sports medicine team, and documenting care in compliance with NCAA and institutional standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Athletic Training from CAATE-accredited program.
• BOC certification with good standing and NC licensure eligibility.
• Minimum of three years of NCAA student-athlete athletic training experience.
• Rowing experience preferred; knowledge of NCAA rules and sports medicine principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
• Coordinate medical care for assigned student-athletes with team physicians and sports medicine staff.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, coaches, student-athletes, parents/guardians, and care team.
• Educate and counsel student-athletes on injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and overall health.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation in accordance with standards.
• Participate in event and practice coverage as assigned.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Athletic Medicine.
