Job Summary:
This position reports to the Senior Associate VP/Director of Athletics and the Senior Associate Athletic Director/ COO . The incumbent is responsible for all athletic financial operations including development of an accounting system to meet the needs of the University’s Finance Office, as well as the Director of Athletics; development of guidelines regarding team travel, recruiting travel, travel advances, purchases, direct billings and check requests; and assisting the Director and Senior Associate Athletic Director with all aspects of budget preparation.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent related work experience.
2. 3 to 5 years of applied experience in a business/finance environment which demonstrates excellent figure aptitude, attention to detail, and the use of significant independent judgment. Prior experience in collegiate athletic business operations preferred. Knowledge of related NCAA regulations a plus.
3. Proficiency with various accounting systems including, Microsoft Office, and Chrome River.
4. Understanding of accounting concepts, including processing, tracking and reconciliation; strong analytical skills.
5. Ability to teach diverse groups of individuals about accounting policies and procedures.
6. Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
7. Must be able to demonstrate initiative and work independently.
8. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and meet deadlines.
9. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
10. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage stressful situations.
11. Willingness and ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
12. Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the University’s Motor Vehicle Policy. A MVC check will be required at the time of hire and thereafter as deemed appropriate by the university. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the MVC check.
13. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
