About the Role

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Academic Surgical Pathologist to join a nationally recognized cancer center dedicated to advancing diagnostic excellence, translational research, and academic innovation in oncologic pathology. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative and subspecialized pathology team providing diagnostic services and translational research support to outstanding clinical and scientific faculty within a collegial academic environment. This role offers exposure to a broad spectrum of complex and intellectually engaging oncologic pathology cases, including both in‑house and consultation material, while providing meaningful opportunities for academic growth, education, and independent research development. This position is ideal for a pathologist who values multidisciplinary collaboration, scientific discovery, and contributing to the future of cancer diagnosis and treatment within a mission-driven academic institution.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide expert diagnostic surgical pathology services within a comprehensive oncologic pathology practice
  • Interpret a wide variety of complex oncologic pathology cases across subspecialty areas
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary oncology teams to support patient‑centered cancer diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Participate in subspecialty sign‑out and consultation services within a highly collaborative academic environment
  • Contribute to high‑quality pathology services that support clinical excellence and innovation in cancer care
  • Support translational research initiatives across Roswell Park’s clinical and scientific programs
  • Participate in collaborative academic and research efforts within the Department and across the institution
  • Develop and pursue independent research interests with institutional and departmental support
  • Utilize advanced pathology, molecular, and informatics resources to advance scientific discovery and innovation
  • Participate in the educational mission through teaching and mentorship of residents, fellows, medical students, and trainees
  • Collaborate with faculty across pathology divisions and multidisciplinary oncology programs
  • Contribute to a culture of academic excellence, collegiality, and continuous learning
  • Support departmental quality initiatives, innovation efforts, and institutional collaboration aligned with High Reliability Organization principles
What You’ll Bring
  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree with Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Anatomic Pathology and/or Surgical Pathology

Qualifications
  • License or permit to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New York.
  • Possession of or eligibility for a valid medical specialty certificate in Pathology or a specialty of Anatomic Pathology, Experimental Pathology, Laboratory Medicine, Cytogenetics, Molecular Diagnostics, Flow Cytometry, Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology or Autopsy Pathology. (Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.)
