The Graduate Center (GC) is the focal point for advanced teaching and research at the City University of New York (CUNY), the nation's largest urban public university. The Neuroscience Initiative of the ASRC invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank, with a start date of January 2026. We seek outstanding scientists with a strong publication record and significant research accomplishments in the fields of glial-neuronal communication, brain metabolism, brain epigenetics, systems neuroscience, or multiscale computational biology to integrate these fields. We encourage applications from candidates using rodent experimental systems.
This faculty position will require the incumbent to work in person.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Preferred candidates would have a demonstrated record of research publications and funding in the areas of glial-neuronal communication, brain metabolism, brain epigenetics, systems neuroscience, or multiscale computational biology applied to these fields. Candidates with a collaborative spirit, a passion for education, successful mentorship, and innovative ideas with a demonstrated use of a wide range of experimental and interdisciplinary approaches to tackle fundamental questions in neurobiology are encouraged to apply.
Faculty rank will be determined based on candidate’s overall qualifications, scholarly contributions (as per publications and funding records and demonstrated commitment to conducting high-level scientific research adopting interdisciplinary approaches). Individuals to be considered for this position are expected to serve a major role in shaping an outstanding interdisciplinary research mission at the ASRC while fulfilling the educational mission of the CUNY Graduate Center.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$100,000-$200,000/year. The annual salary is based on a nine-month work year that is paid over the 12-month calendar year. Faculty may also be eligible for summer salaries as additional compensation.
