Caldwell University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Digital Communication in the Department of Communication and Media Studies. This is a full-time, tenure-track beginning in Fall 2025. Candidates should have expertise in both digital and traditional media related to the design and development (using computer applications) of digital communication. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in human interaction with, and the use of, digital media. Candidates should be able to update and create new courses, which may entail working with faculty in the Visual Art & Design and Computer Science departments, toward building a relevant curriculum. We seek a dynamic individual who will be committed to teaching students at various skill levels. The successful applicant will teach undergraduate courses, including those within their specialty area: in performance, production, and theory such as Multimedia Journalism, Digital Production for New Media, TV Studio Production, Podcasting, Communication Skills (public speaking), and Media and Society, as well as advising Communication Department majors. Job requirements and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • A doctorate in a media-related field or a master’s degree with at least ten years of professional media-related experience is required.
  • Experience using an online course management system, such as Blackboard is expected.
  • Participating in University-wide committee work.
  • Contributing to curriculum improvement and development of future Department and School programs.
  • Continuing scholarly growth and development, including collaboration with students.
  • Participating in Department, School, and All-Faculty meetings, and activities including open houses, convocations, commencements, etc.

Applicants must submit a curriculum vitae, cover letter specifying position interest and qualifications, and a list of three professional references that include complete contact information. Applicants are encouraged to submit a statement of teaching philosophy and transcripts from the institution granting terminal degree.
