Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Dentistry seeks an Assistant/Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Development to lead faculty onboarding, appointment, evaluation, promotion, and tenure, while aligning with CODA standards and institutional policies.

The role collaborates with department chairs, HR, and senior leadership to foster equity, development, and a high-performing academic environment.

Qualifications

• Master's or terminal degree in academic administration or related field.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with faculty development, policies, and promotion/tenure processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee faculty appointment, reappointment, promotion, and tenure processes per policies.
• Maintain faculty guidelines and governance documents for consistent interpretation.
• Lead onboarding, onboarding programs, and succession planning for faculty.
• Support retention initiatives and equitable faculty engagement.
• Provide data-driven insights on faculty demographics and performance.
