Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

The Assistant/Associate Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and supervises the care of student-athletes competing in the College’s athletic programs. The Assistant/Associate Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management of injuries within the College’s comprehensive sports medicine program.

Essential Functions:
  • Prevention of athletic injuries and illness.
  • Evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries.
  • Athletic training administrative duties
  • Assist with coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions.
  • Recordkeeping and documentation.
  • Work with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student-athletes
Other Areas:
  • Other duties assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Director of Athletics.
QualificationsDesired Education, Skills, and Experience:

Master’s degree preferred, Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area of specialization required. Three to five years professional experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified by the Board of Certification (BOC), State Athletic Training Licensure and First Aid/CPR. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid North Carolina Driver’s license. Knowledge and experience of insurance policies and procedures, submitting claims and explanation of benefits. Basic knowledge of NCAA regulations. Strong oral and written skills; excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, and adequate computer skills. High ethical standards and ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, students and other publics. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
