Job summary

The Salvation Army's Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center in Chicago is seeking an Assistant Aquatics Manager to assist with pool shifts, program development, and daily operations, supervising staff during assigned shifts.

You will ensure Red Cross safety standards, collaborate with events and marketing teams, train staff, and help create a welcoming, safe aquatic environment aligned with the Kroc Center's mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management, Aquatics Management or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in Aquatics Management with a staff of at least 15.
• Have or obtain within three months a valid Illinois Driver's License and insured transportation.
• Possession of current certificates in American Red Cross First Aid or First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title22) or CPR Pro, Lifeguard Training.
• Must become Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certified within 6 months of hire.
• Must Be Safe from Harm certified within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day operation of the aquatic programs and facilities.
• Develop programming and monitor programs relevant to the aquatic areas.
• Supervise all pool personnel during shifts.
• Ensure Red Cross safety standards are enforced.
• Work with Events Team for external group rentals.
• Ensure staff are trained in Safe from Harm.
• Maintain calendar of events and daily schedule.
