Job summary

Granville Health System is seeking an Assistant Activities Director to enhance residents' quality of life through tailored social, cognitive, physical, and emotional activities. You will design schedules, lead therapeutic activities, and collaborate with nursing and support teams to ensure holistic care.

The role emphasizes engaging residents across varying abilities, documenting progress, and supporting events and outings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; associates or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience in senior care or recreational programming is strongly preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to engage residents with varying cognitive and physical abilities.
• BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement daily, weekly, and monthly activity schedules tailored to residents.
• Facilitate recreational and therapeutic activities including arts, crafts, music, exercise, games, and events.
• Encourage resident participation and maintain individualized activity plans aligned with care plans.
• Document resident participation and progress per regulatory standards and facility policies.
• Support special events, outings, and holiday celebrations.
• Collaborate with nursing, dietary, and social services to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain safe, accessible, and engaging activity spaces and equipment.
• Stay current with best practices in recreational therapy and regulatory requirements.

What You Will Do

• Facilitate recreational and therapeutic activities, including arts and crafts, music, exercise, games, social events, and educational programs.
• Encourage resident participation and maintain individualized activity plans consistent with personal preferences and care plans.
• Document resident participation and progress, complying with regulatory standards and facility policies.
• Support special events, outings, and holiday celebrations.
• Collaborate with nursing, dietary, and social services teams to ensure coordinated resident care.
• Assist in maintaining safe, accessible, and engaging activity spaces and equipment.
• Stay current with industry best practices, trends in recreational therapy, and applicable regulatory requirements.

What You Will Bring

• High school diploma or GED; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy, gerontology, human services, or related field preferred.
• Experience in senior care, long-term care, or recreational programming is strongly preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with residents of varying cognitive and physical abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office is a plus.
• BLS certification preferred.
