Assistant Academy Manager

Location: Castro Valley, CA

Position Type: Part-Time (20+ hours per week)

Schedule: Weekdays (2:00 PM - 6:00 PM) | Saturdays (As Needed)

Steamoji is an innovative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) academy designed to help kids build skills for the future through hands‑on learning, design thinking, and cutting‑edge technology. Our brand-new Castro Valley location is currently in development and opening soon! We are seeking an energetic, adaptable, and community‑driven leader to help build our academy from the ground up.

Role Overview

As the Assistant Academy Manager, you will be the primary customer‑facing operational leader, working closely alongside the Academy Manager to drive the success and growth of our new center. This role is ideal for a proactive, high‑energy education or customer success professional who thrives on building relationships with parents, engaging with the local community, and delivering an exceptional experience for every family.

Key Responsibilities

Parent Engagement & Customer Experience

• Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective and current families, delivering a warm, welcoming, and informative experience.
• Conduct academy tours and discovery sessions, explain STEAM curriculum pathways, and articulate the value of Steamoji's offerings to parents.
• Manage ongoing family communications, addressing inquiries, gathering feedback, and resolving concerns to maintain high student retention and satisfaction.

Lead Conversion & Sales

• Handle incoming phone, email, and walk‑in inquiries promptly and professionally.
• Guide prospective families through the consultation and registration process to meet monthly enrollment targets.
• Maintain organized records of prospective leads and follow‑up activities in the customer relationship management (CRM) system.

Center Operations & Team Support

• Collaborate with the Academy Manager to ensure smooth daily studio operations, including opening/closing procedures and facility preparation.
• Assist in onboarding, scheduling, and supporting instructional staff to ensure high‑quality session delivery.
• Maintain a vibrant, clean, safe, and inspiring learning environment for all students and staff.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 2+ years of experience in customer service, sales, youth programs, front‑office management, or educational administration.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a natural ability to connect with parents, kids, and local community leaders.
• Sales & Growth Mindset: Comfort with initiating conversations, overcoming objections, and driving enrollment goals.
• Adaptability & Drive: High energy, self‑motivated, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, brand‑new studio environment.
• Passion for STEAM: Genuine enthusiasm for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math education.
