Job summary

Steamoji Castro Valley is seeking a friendly Facilitator to guide young apprentices through hands-on STEAM missions. You will foster a safe, fun, and supportive environment where children feel empowered to experiment and develop growth mindset while engaging with projects after school sessions.

This part-time role offers opportunities to mentor youth, learn basic tech concepts, and work with a collaborative team in a community-driven program at our Castro Valley location.

Qualifications

• Background: High school or college/university student (or equivalent) looking for a rewarding part-time position working with youth.
• Tech aptitude: Basic knowledge of coding and technology, or a strong ability and willingness to learn basic technological concepts quickly.
• Youth experience: Prior experience working with, teaching, or mentoring children.
• Communication: Strong communication skills with both kids and parents.
• Personal attributes: High energy, approachable, adaptable, and a strong team player.

Responsibilities

• Curriculum delivery: Review instructional videos before each session and assist with the deployment of Steamoji projects.
• Small-group mentorship: Guide groups of 4-6 apprentices through the maker process and help them overcome obstacles.
• Safety & tool management: Assist apprentices with fabrication tools and equipment while ensuring safety protocols.
• Parent communication: Capture video artifacts of apprentice progress and provide feedback to parents.
• Culture & environment: Embody Steamoji's values to maintain an energetic, inspiring, and collaborative learning space.

Schedule: Weekdays (3:00 PM - 7:00 PM) | Weekends (10:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

About Steamoji

Steamoji is an innovative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) academy designed to help kids build skills for the future through hands-on learning, design thinking, and cutting-edge technology. Our brand-new Castro Valley location is currently in development and opening soon! We are seeking an energetic, adaptable, and community-driven leader to help build our academy from the ground up.

• Safety & Tool Management: Assist apprentices with fabrication tools, physical computing kits, and equipment while ensuring strict safety protocols are followed.
• Parent Communication: Capture video artifacts of apprentice progress and provide constructive feedback to parents.
• Culture & Environment: Embody Steamoji's core values to maintain an energetic, inspiring, and collaborative learning space.
