Position Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to assist the asset protection manager in performing his/her functions. Performing AP and Safety-related activities to support The Home Depot's business objectives, such as but not limited to minimizing shrink, risk and safety incidents, providing onboarding to AP programs, OSHA standards and investigations, training, coaching, and response to potentially volatile situations requiring quick, effective decisions. This includes responsibility for data integrity and tracking of various performance metrics across AP duties. The role requires experience in asset protection, safety, merchandise auditing compliance, hazmat, OSHA standards, and investigations to ensure a safe work culture by supporting the asset protection manager and facility leadership team, in the assigned building, related to improving shrink, safety, expenses, and liability.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Compliance (40%)
    • Assist DC Asset Protection Manager with conducting monthly audit cadence to identify shrink risk, safety compliance, merchandise accuracy, and regulatory adherence.
    • Assist with regulatory investigations (OSHA, EPA, state and federal agencies).
    • Ensure electronic security systems are operational, leveraging contracted site guard supervisors.
    • Develop action plans based on audit findings to mitigate exposures.
  2. Safety (30%)
    • Review weekly incident reports and trends with leadership.
    • Participate in onsite meetings with regulatory agencies following SOPs.
    • Maintain compliance with security measures, including seal compliance and physical security.
    • Lead auditors in daily operations, ensuring accuracy and safety.
    • Participate in safety incident investigations and contribute to training and process improvements.
  3. Accuracy (15%)
    • Train, coach, and evaluate auditors based on data and observations.
  4. Shrink (15%)
    • Support internal and external theft programs, identify theft perpetrators, and maximize recoveries.
    • Observe floor practices, correct unsafe work practices, and adhere to apprehension policies to minimize injury risk.
Reporting and Team Structure
  • Reports to the DC Asset Protection Manager.
  • May have up to 3 direct reports.
Additional Details
  • Overnight travel less than 10%.
  • Primarily indoor work environment with occasional physical activity.
  • Minimum qualifications include being 18+, legally permitted to work in the US, and 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include knowledge of Microsoft Office, CCTV, and certifications like LPC or LPQ.
  • High school diploma or GED required; no additional education needed.
  • Core competencies include action orientation, collaboration, effective communication, decision making, and results-driven mindset.
