Job summary

Talen Energy, based in Houston, TX, seeks an Asset Manager to join our Commercial team. You will support PJM market operations, optimizing asset dispatch and coordinating with plant operations and Energy Managers.

You will develop ISO-compliant processes, manage fuel cost policy submissions, and work with Risk and Operations on unit parameters and internal modeling. The role emphasizes analytical and communicative collaboration within a large energy portfolio.

Qualifications

• Degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering or Mathematics preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of energy market experience optimizing generating assets and dispatching power plants in PJM.
• Expert understanding of rules/regulations for ISO standards compliance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Certified Generation Operator certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute asset dispatch strategies within a portfolio of generating assets.
• Serve as contact for plant operations and Energy Manager to document asset availability and limitations.
• Work as team member within Talen Commercial to explain results to Sr. Management.
• Create ISO-compliant processes across internal groups at Talen to meet ISO requirements.
• Submit Fuel Cost Policy and manage related processes.
• Develop and submit cost and price curves.
• Ensure ISO compliance in Capacity and Energy markets.
• Coordinate with Risk and Operations on ISO submissions and internal modeling.
• Handle ISO data requests and regulatory inquiries and coordinate responses.

Asset Manager Houston TX | Commercial

Talen Energy is currently seeking an Asset Manager to join our Commercial team in the Houston, TX office to support Commercial Operations for our PJM fleet. The Asset Management Desk is responsible for purchasing and selling wholesale energy and scheduling generation to meet energy delivery obligations in the Day-Ahead and Real-Time markets for which our assets are located.

In this role, you’ll move beyond day‑to‑day contributions to drive meaningful change by:

• Develop and execute asset dispatch strategies within a portfolio of generating assets
• Serve as point of contact for plant operations and external Energy Manager to communicate operational and market conditions including properly documenting asset availability and limitations
• Work as team member within Talen Commercial to explain results to Sr. Management.
• Create and facilanted processes across internal groups at Talen to comply with ISO requirements including:
• Fuel Cost Policy submissions and management
• Cost and Price curve development and submission
• Ensure compliance with ISO requirements in Capacity and Energy markets
• Coordinate with Risk and Operations to manage unit parameters in ISO submissions and internal modeling
• Field data requests and inquiries from ISO and regulatory bodies and coordinate responses

What You Have
