Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation in Helena seeks an Asset Management Section Supervisor to lead the statewide Transportation Asset Management System (TAMS) and guide how asset data informs investment decisions.

The role requires collaboration with internal divisions, districts, leadership, and external partners such as FHWA and AASHTO, with a focus on data governance, analytics, and performance dashboards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in business, computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a data-related field, engineering, asset management, information system management, project management, or related field.
• Minimum of 1 year supervisory or team lead experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the statewide Transportation Asset Management System (TAMS) program and shape how MDT collects, integrates, manages, and uses asset data to drive investment decisions.
• Coordinate with internal divisions, districts, leadership, and external partners (FHWA, AASHTO, other DOTs).
• Develop and monitor budgets, KPIs, and performance dashboards; translate complex data for diverse audiences.
