Job summary

Shell is seeking an Asset Engineer to join our Sewaren Terminal team in New Jersey. The role provides engineering leadership and technical expertise to support safe, reliable, and efficient terminal operations, pipelines, and related infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Legal authorization to work in the US on a full‑time basis
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Process) or related field
• At least 5 years of experience in facility/operations/reliability engineering
• Experience in Project Management and managing contractors
• Experience managing Turnarounds and Maintenance Engineering
• Working knowledge of process safety and risk management
• Experience supporting operating assets and capital project delivery
• Experience in terminal operations, pipelines, storage facilities, refining, chemical, or asset‑intensive industries

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day facility engineering support for terminals, pipelines, storage facilities including API 653 inspections
• Monitor asset performance and reliability, identifying opportunities to improve availability and lifecycle performance
• Lead technical troubleshooting and problem-solving for equipment failures and performance gaps
• Manage technical risks through risk assessments, MOC, and incident investigations
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and asset management systems
• Develop and implement maintenance and reliability strategies with cross‑functional teams
• Lead and support capital/expense projects from concept to handover
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Asset Integrity and other stakeholders
• Support asset planning, budgeting and continuous improvement initiatives
