The State of Maryland is seeking a qualified individual to assist in the Baltimore City Assessments Office. This role involves managing assessment programs, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with Maryland laws. Ideal candidates will have extensive appraisal experience and a Bachelor's degree. This is an internal recruitment for the State Department of Assessments and Taxation, Real Property Division, Baltimore City Assessments Office. To assist the Supervisor of Assessments with the office's work program, including residential and commercial assessments, and to coordinate clerical and assessor functions to complete the triennial assessment program efficiently and professionally.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and completion of IAAO Courses 101, 102, and 300 or equivalent. Six years of professional appraisal experience following USPAP standards. Substitutions include additional appraisal experience or military service in relevant financial administration roles.
Two years of supervisory experience, experience in valuing commercial and industrial properties, and knowledge of Maryland real property tax laws and IAAO standards.
Must be willing to work in Baltimore City Assessments Office. Must be a current employee of the State Department of Assessments and Taxation.
Must possess a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator's license. Employees with real estate or insurance licenses must place them in 'Inactive' status upon appointment.
Applicants should provide detailed information demonstrating their qualifications. Successful candidates will be ranked as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified, and placed on the list for at least one year.
