Job summary

KVC Health Systems in Topeka, KS is seeking a full-time Assessment Worker to join our case management team. The role emphasizes developing strengths-based assessments and empowering families to lead their plan.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related fields, plus two years’ experience with children and families. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook is expected. Valid driver’s license and auto insurance are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, community counseling, human development, child and family development, applied family and youth sciences, public health, health sciences, trauma studies, sociology/social services, substance abuse/addictions, early childhood, education, or psychology from an accredited college/university
  • Requires Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as Outlook email
  • Two years of experience with children and families required

Responsibilities

  • System Development: Contribute to a child welfare system that is safe, stable, and family-centered while utilizing evidence-based practices to support Kansas contract services.
  • Assessment Partnership: Collaborate with the case management team to complete Family-Based Assessments and all required evidence-based diagnostic tools.
  • Initial Team Coordination: Partner with case management to facilitate Initial Team Meetings within 48 hours of a referral.
  • Placement Support: Assist in facilitating Icebreaker meetings to build positive connections between caregivers and placement resources.
  • Training & Consultation: Provide expert guidance and training to the case management team on the proper completion and scoring of evidence-based assessments.
  • Framework Implementation: Lead the integration of the Safe & Connected framework during initial case planning.
  • Strategic Coaching: Deliver ongoing consultation and training to staff to ensure the effective facilitation of the Safe & Connected framework.
