Job summary

Western Governors University in Utah is hiring an Associate Assessment Developer to build and maintain objective and performance assessments under the guidance of Assessment Developers and leadership. You will facilitate workshops, ensure validity and reliability, and help identify opportunities to improve processes.

The role requires at least two years in assessment development, a Bachelor’s degree, and ability to work with cross-functional teams; travel up to 20% is possible; occasional remote

Qualifications

• Two or more years of professional experience in assessment development.
• Successful progress towards advanced degree and applicable licenses or certifications.
• Relevant experience may substitute for the education requirement per policy.

Responsibilities

• Manages the design and development process for both objective and performance assessments, including milestones and timelines, and tracks progress
• Communicates project status updates to cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Organizes and facilitates workshops for internal assessment development and review
• Oversees subject matter expert involvement in design, development, and review processes, and validation
• Maintains assessment design and development standards to ensure integrity
• Identifies and notifies leadership of risks that may affect quality or on-time delivery
• Collaborates with the assessment team and leadership to execute policies and best practices
• Ensures alignment of assessments to WGU’s business objectives
• Develops and implements item- and exam-level scoring guidelines and validates implementation
• Participates in QA processes, identifying issues and trends
• Executes plans to maintain exam performance and implement quality improvements
• Participates in cross-functional teams to implement exam security measures
