Job summary

Western Governors University in Salt Lake City is seeking an Associate Assessment Developer to help design and maintain objective and performance-based assessments, working with the Assessment Developers and leadership to ensure validity and reliability.

The role requires at least two years of experience in assessment development and a Bachelor’s degree, with travel up to 20%. You’ll collaborate across teams, support QA, and contribute to ongoing process improvements and policy execution.

Qualifications

• Ability to facilitate groups in person and remotely.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree/certifications preferred.
• Experience in assessment development or related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manages design and development process for assessments, including milestones and timelines.
• Communicates project status updates to cross-functional teams.
• Organizes and facilitates workshops for internal assessment development.
• Oversees SME involvement in design, development, and review processes.
• Maintains assessment design and development standards.
• Identifies and notifies leadership of risks affecting quality or delivery.
• Collaborates to execute assessment policies, processes, and best practices.
• Ensures alignment with WGU’s business objectives.
• Develops scoring guidelines and validates their implementation.
• Participates in QA processes and resolves issues and trends.
• Executes plans to maintain exam performance and quality.
• Participates in cross-functional teams to implement exam security measures.
