Qualifications
Position Summary

The Assessment Coordinator provides clinical oversight of the Assessment area and coordinates the assessment process for all prospective patients, including detox patients. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, determining appropriate levels of care, coordinating admissions, managing crisis situations during the intake process, and ensuring all required clinical and regulatory documentation is completed accurately and timely. The Assessment Coordinator serves as a liaison between physicians, nursing, UM, and clinical staff to facilitate safe, efficient admissions while promoting exceptional patient care and regulatory compliance.

Licensure/Certificate/Registration

Bachelor's level degree

Specialized Skills and Knowledge
  • 1. Thorough knowledge of substance use disorders, detoxification, co-occurring disorders, and behavioral health treatment.
  • 2. Strong clinical assessment, crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, and de-escalation skills.
  • 3. Knowledge of ASAM Criteria and level of care determinations.
  • 4. Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, HIPPA, state licensing regulations, and behavioral health documentation standards.
  • 5. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • 6. Strong understanding of motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care.
  • 7. Ability to prioritize multiple assessments and admissions while responding effectively during crisis situations.
  • 8. Ability to effectively manage behavioral excalations and support staff during crisis situations.
  • 9. Knowledge of patient supervision, safety monitoring, and incident reporting requirements.
  • 10. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
