McLanahan Corporation is seeking an Assembly Welder to join our manufacturing team in Hollidaysburg, PA. The role covers sub-assembly and final assembly of major machines, performing MIG welds and reading engineering drawings. The position requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.

You will read blueprints, use measuring tools, and prepare weldments for shipment while supporting quality and production targets in a Lean, 5S environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2–5 years of manufacturing experience.
• 1 year of technical training in an industrial setting.
• 1 year of blueprint reading experience.

Responsibilities

• Weld and assemble sub-assemblies and final assemblies of major machines.
• MIG weld components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Use hand tools, measuring tools, and power tools to ensure tolerances are met.
• Inspect assemblies for quality and follow procedures for accuracy and efficiency.
• Operate material handling equipment and overhead cranes safely.
• Adhere to 5S and safety policies; maintain a clean, organized work area.

Job description

As an Assembly Welder, you'll play an important role in the sub-assembly and final assembly of major machines and parts order components. This hands-on position combines welding, assembly, material handling, and quality inspection responsibilities while helping maintain a safe, clean, and organized manufacturing environment through Lean and 5S principles.

We're looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and committed to quality, safety, and teamwork.

What You'll Do

Weld & Assemble Components

• Perform sub-assembly and final assembly of major machines and parts order components.
• MIG weld components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Identify assembly components and hardware.
• Cross-train in assembly and final assembly operations.
• Prepare weldments and assemblies for shipment.

Support Quality & Production

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Use hand measuring tools, hand tools, and power tools to ensure tolerances and specifications are met.
• Perform visual inspections on assemblies to verify quality standards.
• Follow established procedures to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.

Operate Equipment

• Operate motorized material handling equipment to transport materials to designated areas.
• Operate overhead cranes and/or jib hoists and perform visual inspections to ensure safe and proper utilization.
• Perform work at elevated heights according to established procedures.

Promote Safety & Teamwork

• Follow direction provided by the Floor Supervisor or designee.
• Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety policies, procedures, and required use of personal protective equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S principles and daily organizational practices.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with coworkers, management, customers, and others.
• Represent McLanahan Corporation positively while supporting the company's core values.

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• One (1) year of technical training in an industrial setting.
• One (1) year of blueprint reading experience.

Skills & Qualifications

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Stable work history with demonstrated positive behavior.
• Computer literacy, primarily for attendance and job tracking.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Ability to work successfully in an environment that requires flexibility, creativity, and initiative.

Physical Requirements

This position is based in a manufacturing environment and requires sitting and standing for extended periods. The role requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, lift, carry, move, and maneuver materials as needed. Employees must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and may be required to travel domestically.
