Job summary

Advanced Spectral Technology, Inc. is seeking an Assembly Technician to perform mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly of AST systems and components in accordance with drawings and BOMs. This hands-on role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to quality requirements.

You will read engineering documents, assemble using hand and power tools, route cables, and perform basic inspections to ensure proper function and fit within production schedules.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with common hand tools, power tools, torque tools, measuring instruments and assembly equipment.

  • Install and properly route pneumatic tubing, vacuum lines, and similar system connections when required by the assembly documentation.

Job description

The Assembly Technician is responsible for the electro-mechanical assembly of AST systems, subassemblies, and components in accordance with engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), work instructions, schematics, and applicable quality requirements.

This position is primarily a hands-on assembly role and requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to safely and accurately assemble precision electro-mechanical equipment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly of AST systems, modules, subassemblies, and components.
  • Read and follow engineering drawings, assembly drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), wiring diagrams, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Assemble mechanical components using appropriate hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and other standard assembly equipment.
  • Install electrical and electronic components, including power supplies, sensors, motors, switches, controllers, circuit boards, and related components as directed by engineering documentation.
  • Perform point-to-point wiring, cable installation, cable routing, connector installation, and other basic electrical assembly activities.
  • Install and properly route pneumatic tubing, vacuum lines, and similar system connections when required by the assembly documentation.
  • Verify that parts, components, and materials match the applicable BOM and assembly documentation prior to installation.
  • Perform basic dimensional and visual inspection of assembled components using standard measuring tools as required.
  • Perform basic assembly-level functional checks in accordance with established procedures and instructions.
  • Identify and report missing parts, drawing discrepancies, fit issues, damaged components, wiring discrepancies, or other assembly problems to the Production Manager or appropriate engineering personnel.
  • Maintain proper workmanship standards throughout the assembly process, including hardware installation, torque requirements, cable management, cleanliness, labeling, and overall system appearance.
  • Maintain accurate assembly, inspection, and production documentation as required.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area and comply with applicable AST safety, ESD, cleanroom, and laboratory procedures.
  • Properly handle, protect, and store components, assemblies, tools, and materials used during production.
  • Work cooperatively with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Operations personnel to complete assigned assembly activities according to project requirements and production schedules.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience in electro-mechanical assembly, equipment assembly, manufacturing, or a similar hands-on technical environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, Bills of Materials, wiring diagrams, and basic electrical schematics.
  • Experience using common hand tools, power tools, torque tools, measuring instruments, and assembly equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, connectors, cable routing, and electro-mechanical components.
  • Ability to perform precision mechanical assembly while maintaining proper fit, alignment, cleanliness, and workmanship.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and report discrepancies.
  • Ability to follow established procedures, engineering documentation, and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a production team.ommunication skills
